International System of Units (French: Système International d’unités, SI) is the international standard for measurement. SI is a system of measurement based on 7 base units: metre (length) kilogram(mass) second (time) ampere (electric current) kelvin (temperature), mole (amount of substance) candela (luminous intensity) The system also defines a set of prefixes to the unit names and unit symbols that may be used when specifying multiples and fractions of the units and specifies names for 22 derived units.
