SGOT Full Form
(Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase)
Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT) or Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), is an enzyme that is normally present in liver. When liver cells are damaged, SGOT leaks out into the bloodstream and the level of SGOT in the blood becomes higher than normal. An SGOT test is a blood test that checks for liver damage.
